ESS Panda Clubs Spring 2025

Classes begin the week of Mar 24th

What are Panda Clubs? 

  • 1-hour (4-5pm) after-school enrichment programs run by community organizations at ESS. 

  • Classes run 7-8 weeks. Price and start dates are noted in the class description.

Please consider making a donation to the Panda Club Scholarship Fund. We are proud that in the past we have been able to provide a scholarship to every family who requested one. Monday

Lego Robotics (CodeAdvantage, $189). Starts 3/24. Step by step, kids build a variety of cool Lego robots based around a motor and controller. Then, kids use a block based programming language to make their creation come to life! It’s educational, cool, and FUN!

Tuesday

Afro-Caribbean Dance (Karib Dance, $150) Starts 3/25. This youth dance program introduces students to the rich cultures of Africa and the Diaspora through movement and storytelling. Explore heritage, creativity, and self-expression in a welcoming environment. Designed to build appreciation and understanding, our classes foster a connection to culture while nurturing a sense of community and joy.

Wednesday

Art Exploration Club (Create Arts, $138) Starts 3/26. Join us for a one-of-a-kind creative journey in Art Exploration Club! This season, young artists will dive into a hands-on, immersive experience, experimenting with a variety of materials and techniques, including pastels, textiles, collage, watercolor, and more. Each week brings new and exciting projects, allowing participants to explore their creativity and craft their own masterpieces.

Grade 1 & 2: Ballet (Maryland Youth Ballet, FREE) Starts 4/2.

Learn the basics of classical ballet with faculty from Maryland Youth Ballet. Join us for FREE classes at your school. All children are welcome & free dance wear is provided.

The class needs one adult volunteer to attend the class and supervise dismissal each week.

Karate (Kaizen Karate, $152) Starts 3/27. (2nd Grade ONLY) This popular class is a disciplined introduction to the sport by Kaizen Karate.  Your child will learn the beautiful art of karate while gaining safety and defensive skills in a respectful environment.  The class will also emphasize the basic karate principles of focus, patience, and self-discipline.  Returning students will continue to work toward new belts while first-time students will be able to start the belt program.

Friday

Soccer (1-Up-Handles, $80) Starts 3/28. Panda Club Soccer will be an upbeat, fun class that teaches beginner to intermediate fundamentals such as: proper Dribbling, Passing, Shooting, Defensive Strategy and Field Spacing. Participants will be separated by grade & play mini games each class to enhance learning.

Monday

Chess (Silver Knights Chess Academy $147). Starts 3/24. Learn chess with Silver Knights Chess Academy! We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state & national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games.  Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies.

 

Club includes online practice tournaments, a Chesskid Gold membership ($49 value!), and an event with a chess celebrity.  All chess supplies provided. All skill levels are welcome.

PANDA CLUBS RULES

 

  • Student Cancellations/Refunds: All refunds will be made via the vendor. There will be no refunds offered after the first week of programs. 

  • Frequent (two times) late pick-ups will result in dismissal from the program without a refund. Vendors may charge a fee for late pickup.

  • Student Behavior: In order to keep our club fun and safe for everyone, all students are expected to follow ESS school rules while attending PANDA CLUB after school enrichment classes. Parents will be contacted each time there is a behavioral problem that cannot be remedied in the class. East Silver Spring PTA reserves the right to remove your student from a program. 

  • Provider Cancellations: While the vendors will make every effort to reschedule classes canceled due to unexpected MCPS or ESS closings, we cannot guarantee that every class can be made up. The vendors cannot offer make-up classes or refunds due to a student’s inability to attend class.
